INSTITUTE OF HISTORICAL SURVEY FOUNDATION
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Institute of Historical Survey Foundation (IHSF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Archive dedicated to the conservation and preservation of paper, film, sound, digital recordings, and muniments of historical importance. IHSF is seeking an Executive Director for this non-traditional repository.
The collections of the Foundation are diverse and include a plethora of materials with unlimited geographical and topical subjects. IHSF, most particularly, has comprehensive laboratories capable of migrating “retired” recordings to current digital media. Staff members are primarily volunteers.
Major duties and responsibilities:
The position involves overall supervision of historical projects (secular/ecclesiastical), the accession and preservation of archival acquisitions, reference services, and promotion of the IHSF Mission.
Qualifications Preferred:
ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library Science; Certified Archivist; Master’s degree in History or related field
Good communication skills including written/spoken English and electronic media
Knowledge of archival theory, practice, and automated systems
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing requirements
Ability to work with retirees, senior volunteers, as well as university students
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 35 lbs, move boxes and items via ladders when necessary
Current driver’s license required
